Clean

Recently, I noticed a shift in the beauty and personal care industry. It seems like everyone is jumping on the “clean” bandwagon, which is a positive trend. I recently watched the documentary “Not So Pretty” on Max, which exposes the beauty industry’s use of toxic and unclean products. This makes the move towards cleaner products even more important.

Major retailers have started filling their shelves with cleaner products, supporting small businesses by prioritizing what goes in and on the body. If the industry continues in this positive direction, it might eventually displace companies that sell harmful chemical products we use daily.

Towards the end of 2023, I saw many people on social media talking about a new deodorant that was supposed to be natural and effective. I’ve tried some of the supposedly natural deodorants out there, and to say the least, they don’t always work. This often leads consumers like myself to stick with the more harmful ones because at least they do what we need them to do.

Wild is a natural, vegan deodorant that gained significant traction on social media last year. Originally a UK product, it benefits from the UK’s stringent regulations on product ingredients, ensuring it falls under the clean and natural category. Wild stands behind its product, offering a list of ingredients on its website and being very transparent with its consumers.

While I had my reservations at first, since I feel like I’ve tried a lot of the clean deodorants on the market today, this one stood out a bit from the rest. It’s natural—yes, as natural as can be considering they do use perfume in their products. For those of us who choose to avoid that word, rest assured that they do not put synthetic fragrances in their products; everything is natural.

If that’s not enough, Wild Deodorant offers a sensitive option. The sensitive line includes a few light scents as well as an unscented version. So, if you prefer to avoid scents in your deodorant, this would be a great option. Unfortunately, this option is only available directly from their website; I haven’t been able to find the unscented version on Amazon, and their Amazon storefront does not offer it either.

Does it Do the Job?

One notable feature of Wild deodorant is its absence of aluminum salts, which means it’s not an antiperspirant. This allows your pores to sweat, respecting your body’s natural chemistry naturally. Nobody wants to sweat; when you hear that word alongside armpits, like myself, I think of a pungent-smelling onion just after it’s been cut fresh.

Mind you, they do claim to offer 24-hour freshness with their deodorant. While I haven’t experienced this yet, they do mention that your body may need time to adjust. I found that it provided about 12 hours of freshness instead of the full 24 hours. We all have different body chemistry, so some people might be able to achieve the complete 24 hours of freshness.

Best Part

Wild Deodorant comes with an aluminum casing, which I think is the best. The casing is refillable, allowing you to purchase refills without the need for plastic. Additionally, they offer engraving options for a personalized touch. The casings are available in various designs and colors. I chose the Little Mermaid case since it has a unique style and brings a sense of nostalgia.

I got the starter bundle to get things going. They offer the option of purchasing one deodorant refill or up to three refills. I chose to build my starter bundle, which allowed me to add two additional scents to the original three I initially planned to get. Altogether, I received five refills.

How long does it last? According to Wild, each refill lasts between 4-6 weeks with just two gentle swipes per pit. I have noticed that I still have quite a bit left in my first fill, even though I use more than two swipes. I do alternate between different deodorants, but for the sake of this review, I have stayed relatively consistent with it. I’m still in week 3, so I’d say it’s safe to assume I might run out around week 5.

Price!

Now, the moment you’ve been scrolling for: how much does it cost? Each refill is priced at $6.40 with the subscription option. I think this is the better choice since you get a 20% discount, and they will ship it to you every 4 to 14 weeks, depending on your preference. However, with the subscription option, you need to order at least three refills. This requirement helps them reduce CO2 emissions by consolidating shipments.

This might sound like a lot, but I spent more on Advanced Secret Deodorant in two months than I did on this for five refills. My cart totaled $28.29, which included a discount they offered me and $5 for shipping. Also, keep in mind that the special cases are sold at an extra cost. The regular colors come at no additional charge, but limited edition cases will cost you more.

Is it worth it?

Customer service was amazing. When I was concerned about my order, they immediately reassured me that it was still in transit. Since they ship directly from the UK, arriving can take some time. Overall, I’d say that Wild deodorant is doing something most beauty and cosmetic companies aren’t—they are being honest. They aren’t just trying to sell you anything or get the last dime of your money. It’s worth the buy if you’re on your way to a better, non-toxic lifestyle. Remember, nobody will care more about your health and well-being than you.
